Cebreros Carnival Carnival

Cebreros Carnival is an important part of the costumbrist history from Ávila and even from Spain, and one of the most important festivities in Ávila Province. It was declared as Regional Touristic Interest Party in 2009.

On Friday, the traditional children’s parade of the Moreno Espinosa Public School, EIM El Mancho and IES Hermenegildo Martín Borro takes place. It puts the first colour notes before the coming days. Cebreros Carnival

The “manteo” is the popular costume with which women in Cebreros used to dance the typical Jota Cebrereña at the Rondón Traditional Dance. It is composed of white cotton traditional knickers, petticoats with a decorative lace, doublet or bodice, a blouse (with embroidery and lace in the neckline and the sleeves), a slip and a “manteo” (an embroidered skirt which is usually decored with sequins), black velvet apron, white crochet stockings, low black shoes, a waist pouch and a Manila shawl.

Cebreros Carnival

An important part of Cebreros Carnival is the gastronomy. Loads of buns are prepared by people of the village in a completely handmade way. It was usual for the neighbours to meet and prepare these sweet delicacies the previous days to Carnival, leaving in the streets that characteristic smell that announced the arrival of the most relevant appointment in Cebreros.
